A trip to VenusFort

VenusFort Cut

VenusFort is one of the five or so shopping centres that are in the area surrounding where I live here at Tokyo International Exchange Center (TIEC). I went there today to find some sports gear for wearing to the residential gym.

I went to the wrong place. VenusFort is full of fashion stores, mainly women’s fashion. As you might expect, it also has lots of cafes. But the decor is probably the most interesting thing. It’s as though the people who design the inside of the Leagues and Sports clubs these days had been contracted to do some work in Tokyo.

The entrances to the shops were nestled between Corinthian columns, the facades were finished in a faux sandstone, and the ceiling was ‘evening blue’ with white stars painted on.
